The unnamed awardPosted: January 21, 2012
Ok…this is NOT an official award. This isn’t even a real category. But it’s been on my mind amidst all the busy. I think there SHOULD be some sort of award for books who can take a non-reader and help them fall in love with reading, even if it’s only for the amount of time it takes to read that ONE book. Even if it’s not something on any “recommended” or “award-winning” list.
I’ve always loved to read. Can’t IMAGINE not reading for pleasure. My DH on the other hand is not a “natural reader.” There are books he’s enjoyed, authors he’s followed, but it was a struggle for him as a small child, and he usually finds entertainment elsewhere. I get it. Different strokes. Not everyone needs to be a bibliophile. But I secretly wish for all my students to find at least ONE book they love. It makes me sad when I ask them to name their favorite book and they don’t have one.
SO- here’s a list of websites that attempt to match up folks with books that will hopefully bridge the gap and give them at least ONE favorite book.
